“What makes a school outstanding? Men and women who love their subject and love teaching it; the best possible pastoral care that makes every pupil feel they are as important to the school as it is to them; a whole world of sports, music, drama and activities beyond the classroom and first-rate facilities. And, of course, a body of pupils who care as much about the successes and happiness of their friends as about themselves. It is my task as Head Master to ensure that everything I have mentioned here is as good as it can possibly be.
We are a forward-thinking and innovative place in which to learn. As well as being a very successful International Baccalaureate school, we offer pupils the opportunity to study from a wide A level curriculum. For many years we have enjoyed genuinely two-way partnerships with local maintained secondary and primary schools. We admit girls into our sixth form, convinced that co-education in the two years preceding university is a natural and positive step for boys and girls alike. We accept boys at the age of 11 into year 7 of the senior school from both primary and prep schools, as well as our own junior school (from 2021). We also continue to offer the 13+ entry into our fourth form (Year 9) for boys from prep schools.
This website is intended to convey the sense of a day in the life of this school. What it cannot demonstrate is just how many parents and pupils tell me that they feel King’s is an inspirational place, where a remarkably warm, inclusive and supportive atmosphere helps everyone achieve their best.
