With the exception of Art, Music and Sport (see below), scholarships are offered solely on entry to the School, except in cases where an existing pupil has entered the School between standard points of entry and has therefore had no previous opportunity to compete for a scholarship. The value of the majority of awards are in the region of 10% and in no case exceeds 50% of the fees.
The School is committed to broadening access by offering to eligible parents/guardians means-tested financial support with the payment of school fees. Such support is known as a Bursary and Bursaries may be awarded in the form of a discount of up to 100 per cent on tuition fees payable, depending on the financial, compassionate or other relevant circumstances of applicants.
A School that is proud of its long and distinguished history, yet one whose prime focus is the needs of its students for the world of the future; a School whose pupils achieve outstanding examination results in the most demanding academic subjects and gain entry to the leading universities, yet one that believes that a good education comprises so much more than examination grades – these are two of the hallmarks of St Albans School.
