It is our duty to provide equal opportunities for every girl in our care and a safe and fully
equipped learning environment which caters to the needs of every child as an individual. We are
committed to inclusion within the school curriculum and participation in all aspects of school
life.
St James Senior Girls’ School believes that all teachers are teachers of pupils with SEND, and
adopts a “whole school approach” to learning difficulties and disabilities. Staff work to ensure
inclusion of all pupils. The school is committed to ensuring that pupils with SEND enjoy their
education, can fulfil their potential, achieve optimal educational outcomes, make a successful
transition into adulthood, whether into employment, further or higher education or training, and
become confident individuals living fulfilling lives.
bursaries may be awarded to children whose parents have limited means. They are usually granted annually and reviewed every Spring Term for the following school year. For further information, please read our Bursary Application Process Document. Applications are only accepted from current parents or those registered for admission. All applicants should email bursary-applications@stjamesschools.co.uk
All applicants are required to provide detailed personal financial information for assessment and will receive a home visit.
St James Senior Girls’ School is an independent day school for girls aged 11-18, based in Kensington Olympia, and accommodating a two-form year group. Our Prep School pupils transfer at Year 7 and we admit a further 20-25 pupils at 11+ from other schools.
We offer an education which nurtures and enriches the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual development of our pupils. Our happy, united atmosphere provides the ideal environment for every girl to discover her own unique combination of strengths and talents and to ‘be the best she can’.
St James girls are industrious, open-hearted and courageous; they work together, enjoying others’ successes as well as their own. They achieve the highest academic standards and are also encouraged to develop strength through self-discipline and an ability to live according to an intelligent understanding of what is wise and true. Regular opportunities for stillness and quiet enable pupils to learn to be at ease with themselves, to appreciate the value of being fully present and to develop their ability to concentrate.
Our teachers have excellent subject knowledge and give their time generously to support the well-being and development of their pupils. Relationships throughout the school are extremely positive and are characterised by a spirit of love, trust and mutual respect.
I look forward to welcoming you to St James whether at one of our Open Days, a School in Action visit or when your daughter comes for an interview.
Do please use these opportunities to speak to pupils and teachers who will all be delighted to help and answer any of your questions.
I wish you good luck in this important task ahead!
