Provision for pupils with disabilities is also covered by the Equal Opportunities (Education) Policy.
The SEND Code of Practice (2014) states that SEN support should include planning and preparation for the transitions between phases of education. New applicants to Sydenham High are asked to submit any information such as records of previous learning support, copies of assessments undertaken by previous schools, or reports from educational psychologists. If appropriate, the Head of Learning Support may liaise with the previous school to ensure that all reasonable adjustments are made.
For girls joining in year 7, we offer both academic scholarships and scholarships in Art, Drama, Music and Sport.
Sydenham High School offers a number of bursary awards which are designed to enable girls whose parents might not be able to afford the full fees to attend the school. The award of a bursary is based on financial circumstances and the candidate’s performance in the entrance assessments.
